What is a good age to start music lessons?
Music lessons can begin at any age after 4! Our experienced teachers work with students of all ages. For children under 5, we recommend the Suzuki method, which provides a wonderful introduction to music at an early age.
Can adults take music lessons?
Absolutely! Music lessons are for everyone, regardless of age. Many adults take lessons for a variety of reasons—whether it's learning an instrument for the first time or rediscovering one they enjoyed in their youth. It’s never too late to start, and some parents even choose to take lessons alongside their children!
How much do music lessons cost?
For information on tuition rates, please contact us at Contact@youandme-music.com or fill out the registration form on the contact page.
What instruments do you offer?
We offer private lessons in the following instruments: piano, violin (and viola), guitar, voice, and composition.
Should I plan on participating in my child’s music lessons?
Parental involvement is essential to a student’s success, especially for younger learners. We recommend that parents actively participate in lessons for children 10 and under and continue to support their progress as they grow older.
How long should my lessons be?
For beginning students, we recommend starting with 30- or 45-minute lessons. As students progress, their lesson length may increase, typically to 60 minutes for more advanced learners, in consultation with their teacher.
Do I need to have my own piano for lessons?
For in-home piano lessons, you will need a tuned piano or a full-sized, 88-key keyboard with weighted keys. We’re happy to assist you in finding the right instrument for your lessons!
